How do I use Aspect ratio finder?

Find an image’s aspect ratio by selecting the file. The tool reads its displayed width and height and reduces them to an exact ratio, such as 1920×1080 becoming 16:9.

  1. Choose the image you want to inspect.
  2. Read its exact reduced aspect ratio, pixel dimensions, and file size.
  3. Use the ratio calculator to plan another size with the same proportions.

Still JPG, PNG, and WebP images are supported. Each image can be up to 25 MB, 24 megapixels, and 8,192 pixels on either side. Your original file is never changed.

What should I know before using this tool?

How is the aspect ratio calculated?

The width and height are divided by their greatest common divisor. For example, 1920×1080 becomes 16:9. An image measuring 1919×1080 keeps that exact ratio rather than rounding to 16:9.

Does file size affect aspect ratio?

No. Aspect ratio depends only on pixel width and height. Changing JPG quality or file format can change the file size without changing its proportions.

What about rotated phone photos?

The tool uses the decoded image dimensions displayed by your browser, including supported EXIF orientation. The preview lets you confirm the orientation.
