How do I use Compress image?

Reduce image file size by adjusting quality or setting a maximum size. Preview the result and check its measured size before downloading.

  1. Choose your JPG, PNG, or WebP images. Processing stays in this browser.
  2. Choose a quality level or a maximum file size. Select the output format that suits your image.
  3. Compress your images and check the measured size. Download the results that meet your needs.

Still JPG, PNG, and WebP images are supported. Each image can be up to 25 MB, 24 megapixels, and 8,192 pixels on either side. Your original file is never changed.

What should I know before using this tool?

Can I compress to an exact file size?

The target is a maximum, not an exact size. One KB means 1,000 bytes. If the image cannot fit with your settings, the result clearly says Over target. Allow smaller dimensions or choose another format and try again.

Will my image dimensions change?

Dimensions stay unchanged unless you enable Allow smaller dimensions if needed. If enabled, the compressor can reduce width and height together to help reach the target.

Why isn't my PNG getting smaller?

PNG uses lossless compression and does not have a lossy quality slider here. Re-encoding an already optimized PNG can make it larger. WebP can give a smaller result while retaining transparency; JPG is suitable for opaque photos.

Does compression remove metadata?

Images that are re-encoded through the canvas do not carry their original EXIF metadata. If a file already meets the target and uses the selected format, it is returned unchanged, including its metadata.
