How do I use Split image?

Split an image into separate tiles by choosing a grid or dragging custom split lines. Each tile uses the selected part of the original image and can be downloaded on its own or in a ZIP.

  1. Choose a still image and preview it with the tile boundaries overlaid.
  2. Choose a grid, rows, columns, or tile size. Drag the split lines for custom tile sizes, up to 100 tiles per image.
  3. Choose an output format, split the image, and download numbered tiles individually or as a ZIP.

Still JPG, PNG, and WebP images are supported. Each image can be up to 25 MB, 24 megapixels, and 8,192 pixels on either side. Your original file is never changed.

What should I know before using this tool?

What if the image dimensions do not divide evenly?

Every source pixel is included. Grid tiles may differ by one pixel. With a fixed tile size, the final row or column contains smaller edge tiles.

Can I move the split lines?

Yes. Drag any horizontal or vertical line with a mouse or touch. You can also set an exact pixel position in Settings, or focus a line and use the arrow keys (Shift for 10 pixels). Reset to equal grid restores evenly spaced tiles.

What order are the files in?

Tiles are numbered from left to right, then top to bottom. A 3-column grid starts with tile 01, 02, and 03 across the first row.

Can I make a 3×3 Instagram grid?

Yes. Choose Grid, set three rows and three columns, then download all nine tiles. Crop your source to a square first if you want nine square tiles. Check the current display layout of the platform where you plan to post.

Does splitting reduce image quality?

Each tile keeps its source pixel dimensions. PNG avoids lossy re-compression and preserves transparency. JPG and WebP use your chosen quality setting.
